Susan Olcott Tharp

Sue Olcott Tharp has many fond memories of her years at Haddon Township. There's a good reason for that. Sue was one of the main reasons why her team excelled and dominated the competition. Sue was a three sport standout, competing in field hockey, basketball and softball. Her field hockey teams competed with power houses Gloucester and Collingswood in the infancy of HTHS sports and her basketball and softball teams both won championships. Sue continued to play field hockey at East Stroudsburg University, being selected as the Most Valuable Player in her sophmore year. She was also twice named to the All Philadelphia II team during her college career. She continued to play hockey after graduation and continued her contributions to the sport by picking up a whistle and became a highly respected official. She has been honored by the State of New Jersey for her contributions as an official by being selected to officiate both state tournament and Garden State games. Sue and her husband Tom still live in Haddon Twp. and have contributed to the continued success of Hawk athletics by providing four outstanding athletes, sons Kirk, Kraig and Kristofer and daughter Katie.
