John Walter

Success and John Walter go together. A 1981 graduate of HTHS, John earned nine Varsity letters, three each in football, basketball, and baseball. As a junior, John used his skills as a hard throwing pitcher to lead his team to Colonial Conference and Diamond Classic Championships. As a basketball player, John used his size and strength to help his team. However, when one thinks of him, football is the sport that comes to mind. John was a dominating defensive end who led some of the best teams in Haddon Township football history. He was twice named to the All-South Jersey teams and was a member of the All State team in his Senior Season. He recieved the Brooks Irvine Scholar Athlete in his Senior year and was honored as a member of the Courier Post All Century team (modern era.) John continued his education at Penn State University where he played for legendary Coach Joe Paterno earning four Varsity letters. He was a member of the 1982 National Champions as a player and served as a coach for the 1986 Nittany Lion National champs. John graduated with a BS in engineering and an MBA in finance. He is employed as an equity trader by the Freiss Associates/Brandywine Funds. He is married to the former Bonnie Dengler with whom he has three sons, John Jr. (10), Alex (8) and Jake (4.)
