George T. "Doc" Rowland, Jr. George T. “Doc” Rowland, Jr. was a man with energy. Throughout his professional career as a Physical Therapist and later teacher at Glassboro State and HTHS along with his avocation of officiating track and field, “Doc” was always on the move offering a kind or encouraging word. He belonged to many professional organizations and was honored as Man of the Year by the Southwestern New Jersey Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Organization. Following his death in 1977 and in recognition of his contributions to Haddon Township and South Jersey athletics, Haddon Township renamed its annual girls relay meet, the George T. (Doc) Rowland Relays. His wife, Mildred, and son George III still make their homes in Haddon Township.
