Miller Preston For many years, wrestling was arguably the pre-eminent athletic program in Haddon Township. As Head Coach and architect of the program, Miller Preston was most responsible for the program’s success. Famous for use of their cradle move, his teams were consistently threats to the Paulsboro wrestling dynasty. Miller came to Haddon Township in 1964 after serving six years as assistant wrestling coach at Long Branch High School. Following one year as an assistant at HT, he became head coach and began a career that lasted 32 years. In those 32 years, Miller amassed a record of 398-134-7. His teams won two Colonial Conference Championships, two South Jersey titles and eleven district crowns. He coached 2 State champs, 21 regional winners and 85 district champs. In nineteen of the last twenty years of his career, his teams were ranked in the top twenty by the Courier Post. He served as President of the South Jersey Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association for five years. He has previously been named to the South Jersey Wrestling Coaches and New Jersey State Coaches Halls of Fame. In the spring, Miller coached the golf team, also for 32 years and his teams won three conference championships. Miller now lives in Manasquan, NJ with his wife Lynn and he enjoys visits from his children Jennifer, Michael, David and Richard along with his seven grandchildren.
