Tom Curley In 1973, Tom Curley decided that he could help the Haddon Township High School football program. Despite having established a strong program at neighboring Audubon High School, he chose to relocate across the White Horse Pike to Westmont. Although his early teams struggled as they learned his systems, Tom built a powerful program that set the gold standard for Hawk football. His 1977 team made the first Haddon Township appearance in the State playoffs. As good as that team was however, it was outdone by the 1979-81 teams. These three groups won two conference championships along with annual visits to the Group 2 playoff finals. Tom’s teams were noted for their determination, drive, honesty and positive attitude. For his career accomplishments, he has been inducted into the South Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame, the South Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame and the New Jersey State Football Hall of Fame. Since his retirement from coaching, Tom has continued his association with football as a long time member of the Brooks Irvine Football Club, and serves as a mentor to many area coaches. He remains involved in many football committees including the Flame Bowl, Adam Taliaferro Classic and Rotary Bowl. He is a long time resident of Haddon Township who, with his wife Mary Alice are the proud parents of six children Suzanne, Mary Pat, Maureen, Kathleen, Pat and Molly as well as 14 grandchildren.
