Greg Williams

Sports like gymnastics, diving and golf are not usually found on the front page of the sports section. But due to his excellence, Greg Williams helped draw people to these sports not just in Haddon Township but in South Jersey throughout his career. He was the first person in Haddon Township history to earn twelve Varsity letters, the maximum he could have earned. Not only was he considered excellent in his sports in Haddon Township, Greg made significant accomplishments in regional and State competitions. The #1 player on the golf team, he always played the toughest opponent. As a diver, he captured first place in the South Jersey meet three years in a row. Even more impressive was his performance in the State gymnastics meet in 1982. At this meet, Greg was the individual champion in five of the six individual events and, to no one’s surprise, was also the all around champion. Greg went on to attend Indiana State University where he continued to excel as a gymnast. With his induction he joins his father Pete becoming the second father/son combination inducted into the HTHS Hall of Fame (following the Maiers). He now is employed as a pilot for Continental Airlines and lives in Spring, Texas with his wife Melody and daughters Kendra and Danielle.
