Bill Getzinger Tight end and linebacker are arguably the positions in football that require the most versatility. Bill Getzinger brought the versatility needed for these positions to the football field that made him an ideal player for Coach Bill Hoover. An excellent student and tough competitor, Bill led the Hawk football teams from 1985-1987, garnering recognition as all-conference tight end on offense in 1986 and 1987 and on defense as an All-South Jersey linebacker in 1987. In the winter, he anchored the wrestling team in the heavyweight weight class compiling a 42-7 record over his junior and senior years. He completed his status as a three sport star with three years of Varsity baseball, including an MVP citation in 1988. Recognizing his athletic ability along with the quality of his character, the College of the Holy Cross awarded him a full four year scholarship for football where he participated on squads that went a combined 39-4-1 record, including an unblemished season of 11-0 in his senior year. Upon graduation, Bill returned to Haddon Township and joined the family business, Westmont Hardware. Since then, he has been an assistant coach in the high school football program, helping to develop several all-conference players and more recently, he has served the community (and his four daughters) as President of the HTAA softball program. |
