Denise Acker Foedinger

In the early seventies, HTAA coaches noticed a tall girl playing softball in the youth and Babe Didrickson leagues. This young lady, Denise Acker Foedinger, would later develop into one of the best athletes in HTHS history.  Denise enjoyed success in tennis, basketball and softball where she was a prime contributor to the 1979 State softball and 1978-79 South Jersey Group II basketball championship teams. Along the way she was recognized as an All Group II team member in each sport and her outstanding pitching led her to be named to the All State team in softball. Like Nancy Porter, she continued her career in college, playing tennis and basketball. She did not play softball, her strongest sport, because the college she chose to attend, Immaculata, did not field a team until after she had graduated. Since her graduation, in recognition of the contributions made to her career by her HTAA coaches, Denise has given back to her community. She has coached countless young women in softball, basketball and soccer at many varied levels including recreation, CYO, youth travel and college. Remaining in Pennsylvania since her college years, she and her husband Rich live in Phoenixville with their son Kevin and daughter Kelly.
